Center City District Earns International Recognition for Sister Cities Park

Sister Cities Park—the revamped space at 18th and the Parkway—has garnered some international attention for Philly’s Center City District. The International Downtown Association recently held its annual conference, where it honored the Center City District for its renovation of Sister Cities Park.

The project, the $5.2 million renovation of Sister Cities Park that transformed the 1.3-acre site into a richly planted, well-illuminated and welcoming public space that offers a variety of amenities for people of all ages to enjoy 365 days a year, was among 22 qualified entries in the category of Public Space. This category recognizes capital improvements that enhanced the urban design, physical function, or economic viability of downtown and the community. [Plan Philly]
