Mayor Nutter Attends Advance Screening of Won’t Back Down

On Wednesday evening, more than 100 Philadelphians joined Mayor Nutter and state Senator Anthony Hardy Williams for an advance screening of a major motion picture about education reform. Won’t Back Down stars Maggie Gyllenhaal (that’s how you know it’s good) and Viola Davis as a pair of yinzer Moms who work together to reform the local school district. The movie obviously strikes a nerve in Philly, where the School Reform Commission is overhauling the entire public education system. Mayor Nutter tried to play it cool, suggesting that everyone involved needs to work together to improve the situation. [Newsworks]
