Philadelphia Gay News Publisher Mark Segal Was a Hit On Letterman

It’s been a big week for Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal, in Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention. First, he was hugged by First Lady Michelle Obama, the day after she made her convention speech. Then he wound up on The Late Show with David Letterman.

In the segment (skip to 2:20, below), which aired on Wednesday, longtime Letterman stage manager/personality Biff Henderson went to the DNC in search of answers to questions about politics. Just after an appearance by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Henderson finds Segal on an escalator and asks, “Can you explain the electoral college?” In his usual overly enthusiastic (but charming) style, Segal responds, “Absolutely! 270 votes, and Obama wins!” The audience laughs.
