Philadelphia Archdiocese Is Having a Fire Sale

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has confirmed that—in addition to the Archbishops’ residence in Lower Merion—it intends to sell-off its properties in Center City, Bucks County, and down the Shore in Ventnor. The Archdiocese says that the sale of the properties is a necessary step toward stabilizing its finances (it’s currently in a $17 million hole). The shore home alone has been assessed at more than $6 million, so if someone wants to go ahead and hook a brother up with a little loan, we’d promise to keep a futon with your name on it. [Inquirer]
