Mayor Nutter Won’t Let a 16-Year-Old A-Hole Ruin Philly’s Reputation

Philly’s July 4th celebration on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway featured a number of popular musical acts including the homegrown Legendary Roots Crew and a surprise performance from Lauryn Hill. The festivities culminated in a fireworks show at the Art Museum, but might have been overshadowed by some loud noises a few blocks away. A 16-year-old boy allegedly shot two other teens and turned a gun on police, who then fired on the suspect, grazing him in the chest. On Thursday, Mayor Nutter spoke out against the holiday violence at a press conference saying that he’s, “not going to let a 16-year old asshole who’s got a beef with somebody from a month ago in Germantown to negatively impact the image of the city.” Amen.
