Mumia Abu-Jamal Loses Final Appeal

It’s the end of the road for Former Black Panther and convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, who lost his final appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court today. Abu-Jamal was sentenced to death after his 1982 conviction for the murder of Philadelphia police Officer Daniel Faulkner. While Abu-Jamal exhausted his legal options on death row, a judge ordered a new sentencing hearing and the D.A.’s office decided to allow Abu-Jamal to serve life in prison without parole instead of again pursuing the death penalty. Today’s ruling means Abu-Jamal will serve out that life sentence. [NBC Philadelphia]
