Pilot Allegedly “Tried to Take Down” a New York to Vegas Flight

A JetBlue flight from JFK to Las Vegas was rerouted to Amarillo after the pilot of the flight allegedly had a panic attack. It appears as though the co-pilot noticed and forced the pilot out of the cockpit where he was subdued by passengers. Twitter user Grant F. Heppes was on the flight and has been tweeting about the incident. [Jalopnik]

UPDATE: The man was a flight captain who exited the cockpit and entered the plane’s restroom. Apparently, the co-pilot convinced the man to exit the cockpit and then announced that he should be subdued. A flight attendant deputized male passengers to take the man down as the captain screamed about Iraq and Iran and the co-pilot diverted the plane safely to Amarillo. [Jalopnik]
