No-Brainer Gift Ideas for the Philly Sports Fan

Six perfect presents for anyone who loves the Phillies or Flyers

Holy sh%&. It’s December 20th, which means there are only … *carries the one* … five business days left between right now and Christmas morning. If you’ve got a Philly sports fan on your list, here are some ideas that can fill a stocking or two.

Tickets to Skate on the Winter Classic Rink. There are a bunch of public skating sessions on the rink at Citizens Bank Park on January 3rd and 7th. Act quickly because the first few sessions released to the public sold out almost immediately. Adult tickets are $60; kids tickets are $40, and it’ll cost you $10 to go and watch. Disclaimer: Roy Halladay probably won’t be throwing a bullpen session at CBP those days. Although, I wouldn’t put it past him at this point. [Comcast Tix]

Aphillyated Apparel’s New Broad Street Bully T-shirt. The black t-shirt features orange font that reads “BROAD STREET BULLY” above the iconic picture of a toothless Bobby Clarke. Aphillyated Apparel is also offering Christmas discounts with use of the promo code “XMAS.” The other day someone in the office asked me if I could think of some iconic Philly smiles, and I couldn’t think past that photo of Clarke looking like he’s expecting two silver dollars to be under his pillow that night. Get Up’s Painting of the Phanatic Tagging Philly. You’ve seen them popping up all over the city. There’s one on Drury Street outside of McGillin’s Old Ale House. There’s one at Cottman and the Boulevard and one at Front and Market. It’s some of Philly’s finest street art courtesy of @getupart. Shirts and prints are available at Get Up’s website or you might have a shot at snagging some merch down at Raw on South Street. [Getupgetup.com]

#HartnellDown Shirts. By wiping out on the ice, Scott Hartnell has been inspiring the 18- to 30-year-old demographic to finish their drinks all season long. More recently, he’s been getting the city to LOL, haha and ROFL with his #HartnellDown references on Twitter. Hartnell has now launched HartnellDown.com (complete with a Down-O-Meter) where you can buy your official #HartnellDown t-shirts. Plus, the money goes to charity, so you’d be paying some of that Christmas spirit forward. [HartnellDown.com]

2008 Phillies Video Yearbook. No, it still hasn’t gotten old yet. Nor will it ever. The city’s only championship team in the past 28 years is chronicled from start to finish. Lidge goes perfect, Stairs sends one into the seats, Victorino hits a grand slam, Harry Kalas calls the final out. It’s all on there. Plus, the bonus features include all of the clubhouse celebrations and the parade. Just make sure to gift it with a box of tissues, a bottle of whiskey and your condolences for how 2011 ended for the Phils. [Modells.com]

Winter Classic Alumni Game Tickets. The cheapest tickets for the Winter Classic on January 2nd are still listed at about $345. But, the Flyers and Rangers alumni will lace up the skates for a game at Citizens Bank Park on New Year’s Eve. Tickets start at just $50. And that’s a steal for a chance to see multiple generations of Flyers—Lindros, LeClair, Parent, Clarke and others—back out on the ice in South Philly. [Stubhub.com]
