Style Tips From One of Philadelphia’s Best-Dressed Women

What do you need to look stylish from head to toe? Joan Shepp's Tuesday Gordon spills

The problem with magazines? There’s never enough room. As good as the story is, inevitably, some parts end up hitting the cutting-room floor. I knew we were going to have a problem as soon as I walked into the shoot for our most recent “What I Love” page, in which Philly’s most fabulous people dish about their favorite things. We were there to shoot Tuesday Gordon—style-setter, fierce fashionista, and the manager/buyer of Walnut’s Joan Shepp—and her picks were all equally amazing. Read on to get the details on what didn’t make the cut and Tuesday’s insider tips for living well in Philly.

Tuesday waltzed into the shoot wearing printed Marsell oxfords, which you can now snag on sale at Joan Shepp. She referred to them as her “errand” shoes. (Why not look fabulous on your Sunday morning jaunt to the grocery store?) She also brought with her select pieces by Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens and Balenciaga. On her arm was a striking silver and leather cuff by local artist Rudy Lewis. (Get your own for $850 here.)

Of course, for the truly fashion-obsessed, it doesn’t end with separates: It goes all the way down to your hosiery. And those in the know always wear Wolford, including Tuesday, who swears the pricey ‘hose are worth every penny. (Pick one up at Joan Shepp for around $50. We love this houndstooth pair.) “They’re ironclad,” she says. “And they move with you so you don’t feel like you have anything on—it’s just luxurious.”

After the clothes, the next thing you notice about Tuesday is her skin. It positively glows, probably because she slathers it with Valmont moisturizer twice a day, every day ($180 for 50ml at Rescue). Her other secret? A facial with Rescue’s Danuta Mieloch every few months.

Tuesday’s close-cropped, straight hair had a subtle green highlight in the front (yes, green), expertly done by Naneke Green at the Beauty Studio in Mt. Airy. (A few weeks ago, though, she’d changed it up and was sporting bouncy curls that sprung from her head in a perfectly mussed way.) But that’s Tuesday—always changing up her look, always a little bit avant-garde (yet totally sophisticated), and perfectly styled from her hair to her toes (painted in YSL polish, naturally).
