Scheie Eye Institute serves as the Department of Ophthalmology for the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Scheie is a world leader in research on retinal degenerations, especially age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and is consistently in the top five in the nation in funding by the National Eye Institute.
