GENITAL HPV

Currently, 20 million Americans are infected with genital human papillomavirus (HPV), and more than 6 million will acquire the infection each year. The virus is transmitted through genital contact and roughly 50 percent of sexually active men and women will become infected with HPV at some time in their lives. It can also be transmitted from mother to child during vaginal childbirth.
