SMIZE QUEEN: Cory Scales an L.A. Skyscraper, Is Criticized for Looking Like a Lesbian

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... Tyyyrrraaaaaa!

This week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model involved a dare-devil runway walk and alternative-wedding shoot that challenged the 16 girls and guys vying for the top prize — a spread in Nylon magazine, contract with Next Models, and a $100K national campaign for Guess. Here’s what went down on Episode 2:  Read more »

SMIZE QUEEN: Philly Gay Man Makes His Top Model Debut

"OK girls, show me your stuff 'cause I am the one to beat. And you better hope they don't put me in heels 'cause I'm gonna put some of your walks to shame."

Crazy-ass Tyra Banks is back with cycle 20 (yes, 20) of America’s Next Top Model. I’m sure you’ll agree that after all these years the show has worn out its welcome, but a few new twists are drawing us back in: (1) For the first time in the franchise’s American history, men will be competing for the top prize, and (2) one of those men is Philly’s own actor/singer/drag queen wunderkind Cory Wade Hindorff. So to keep you up to date on how things are developing with our hometown supermodel, I’ll be recapping each episode every Monday morning. Before we get started, though, full disclosure: Cory and I have been friends since 2008. But come on, all of Philly’s a little biased about this guy doing well, right?  Read more »

Philly Man to Star in Next Cycle of Top Model, Starting Tonight

I reported about this way back in February, but the day has finally arrived: Philly actor/singer/occasional drag performer Cory Wade Hindorff will make his reality-show debut when Cycle 20 of America’s Next Top Model kicks off tonight on the CW.

Wait. Did I just type Cycle 20? Wow!

Hindorff has been back in Philly for several months, but, of course, he’s being super secretive about what’s in store. All we know is that this is the first season where male models will be competing alongside the ladies. And he gets to wear sexy fish net tank tops like the one you see to the right. And be in the presence of Tyra.

To keep track of how he’s doing on the show, Alexander Kacala, who you may remember fabulously recapped the last season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, will post a rundown of the latest ANTM episode every Saturday morning/early afternoon. We’re calling the column “Smize Queen.”

Also, stay tuned to the winter issue of G Philly, where I will interview Hindorff about how a small-town boy from Wallingford, Pa. found his way to the Top Model catwalk.

So mark your calendars, set your DVRs and get ready to root for our hometown super model. Tonight’s two-hour premiere episode starts at 8 p.m. on the CW.
