A panel of adoptive parents and LGBT allies will be taking the spotlight on November 18 during a free “Gay Adoption Cafe” event, co-sponsored by the National Adoption Center and the Wells Fargo Foundation.

The Cafe, which will take place at the Wells Fargo Museum on Broad Street, will feature Nellie Fitzpatrick, Director of the City’s Office of LGBT Affairs, Joyce Mosley, the first single woman to adopt in the State, Ken Mullner, the Adoption Center’s executive director, plus a series of gay parents who adopted children, including Ryan Wexelblatt and Nicole Perrine-Wilson.

According to a representative from the 43-year old Adoption Center, the event “is part of the Center’s efforts to reach out to prospective adopters, providing information about the children available to be adopted, qualifications of those who are interested in adopting them, and the adoption process.”

Throughout its tenure, the National Adoption Center has created over 24,000 families for children and continues to work to find homes for the more than 100,000 children who live in foster care throughout the country. The Wells Fargo Foundation has provided additional funding for a special LGBT program through the Center, which helps LGBT people throughout the adoption process, including support and assistance with adoption agencies.
