Ellen DeGeneres Teams Up With Gap to “Empower Girls Everywhere”

You may have seen Ellen DeGeneres’ face in the window of the Gap on Walnut Street and wondered what that was all about. Well, the popular television celebrity has teamed up with the clothing store to introduce a line of girls’ clothing that aims to “empower girls everywhere.”

The line, called “Girl,” is described as “a collaboration dedicated to supporting girls just as they are, whether they skateboard or dance, wear dresses or jeans, build forts or paint rainbows, or everything in-between. We encourage girls everywhere to take pride in what makes them unique.” What a refreshing notion, right? I love the video below of Ellen interviewing a young skateboarding posse wearing the collection:

Even better, proceeds from the Gap collection go towards “Girls, Inc.,” a 13-week “Economic Literacy program where girls will learn important entrepreneurial skills such as how to start a business and help others through investing in communities.”

Even if you aren’t a girl, Gap and Ellen encourage you to visit the special webpage created for the collection to leave words of support for youth by using hashtag #heyworld. Ellen has also created mini “words of encouragement” videos for the collection:

I pulled some of my favorite looks for a small gallery below, but you can check out the entire collection at Gap stores or via this website.
