Everyone may have just come home from Provincetown’s Bear Week, but there’s another bear event shaping up this October a little closer to home. The Coaster Bears Northeast Division is planning a Hersheypark “Bear Invasion,” the first ever event for the new group.

The party scheduled for October 17th starts at 11:30 am and lasts all the way until the park closes at 10 pm. According to the event’s website, there will be a meet-and-greet first thing in the morning, followed by several “bear takeovers” of rides, including a 3 pm “Coaster Bear Race” on Lightning Racer and a 7 pm group ride on Skyrush (after watching the video below, I’d be more than happy waiting for everyone outside of the ride, enjoying a Hershey chocolate bar).

The Coaster Bears describe themselves as “a non-formal membership-free group of coaster lovers where anyone and everyone is an equal.” You can formally “join” the group (or, essentially, get email updates) by signing up here. Also, ticket information for the October meet-up is available by visiting the Coaster Bears website.

Hersheypark, of course, is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and is about 95 miles west of Philadelphia. If October is too long to wait, you can visit their website to plan out an earlier trip, bear takeover or not!
