Yay, coffee lovers! It’s official: Saxbys Coffee is opening a new branch right at 11th and Locust.

The space, which has been vacant for some time, is directly across from Walgreens. We received “confirmation” of the new location after seeing this post from Justin Pizzi on Instagram:

We’re getting ready to Make Life Better at 11th and Locust. #Saxbys11andLocust @saxbys_coffee

The coffeehouse offers patrons espresso beverages, coffee drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, Frolattes, loose leaf tea, smoothies, frozen yogurt, pastries and coffee beans. Those who want to join in on the excitement about this new location can use hashtag #Saxbys11andLocust when chatting on social media.

We’re excited about this great new addition to the ‘hood.

To be honest… there are like 5 local coffee shops right there that serve great coffee and keep the money in local pockets. Opening a location right here is smart business, sure, but before you fill up at Saxby’s, be sure to head to Cake and the Beanstalk or any of the others to get a cup from a small business.

Why are we celebrating a corporate coffee shop opening in this area? Bad form.

Is Saxbys local? I thought they were corporate. I don’t understand why people would go to places like Starbucks or Saxbys when Cafe 12, Cake and the Beanstalk, Toast, and Square One Coffee are all right there.
