Weekend Roundup: Sebastian’s Life On the Fringe, Happy Bear Happy Hour, Songbird Concert and More

A new brand of concert is hitting Philadelphia this weekend: Created and led by local performance artist Sebastian, the raw Life On the Fringe (LOTF) shines a spotlight on the folks living “on the fringe of society.” Dubbed as a “multimedia concert for adults,” LOTF is performance art that seeks to challenge, educate, and empower.

In an interview with Phindie, Sebastian explains that LOTF examines the limitations being outside the mainstream presents to him as an artist. “I am not part of the mainstream, people can say what they want and scream about how everyone is treated equally in this country, but I am a black gay male … I am not eligible to part of the mainstream. I am not eligible to play 75 percent of male roles, because everything is written for the mainstream … The goal of the show is for us to better understand each other. All of us.”
