My name is Adrienne Williams, and these are my local picks for Woman Crush Wednesday.
Herculine Barbin is a Philadelphia attorney, foodie, and she's downright hilarious. She's an all-around amazing woman, and one of my wife's besties. Plus she's the girlfriend of one of Philly's favorites, the wonderful Ashley Coleman (if you don't know who Ashley is please submit your gay card after reading!) In all seriousness, Herculin is honest and trustworthy and I am so proud to call her a friend.
Jasmine Burnett (right) is an advocate for reproductive justice, a writer, a gentle spirit and, and she's all about keeping it real. The activist spirits in us connected immediately. I am so glad she (and her equally amazing partner, Makeva (left)) moved to Philadelphia and is part of our community. From quiet bookstores to cocktails—my time spent with Jasmine is never dull.
Sappho Fulton has a part of my heart. She is a graduate student at West Chester University, but we met doing social justice work for Elements Organization. Sappho has fearlessly advocated for LGBTQ spaces at Community College of Philadelphia, Temple University, and I can't wait to see what she will bring to West Chester University. Sappho wears no airs. Her genuine heart, sweet spirit, and smile melt me every time.
Katrina Fingerson and I have been friends from the start. We truly are two Midwestern girls in the big city and are loving every minute of it. Her big heart, love of music, dancing, and amazing sense of humor keeps me in stitches. She also introduced me to my love of cheese curds. Who knew?!
Sonalee Rashatwar is truly my Aquarian sister. She is an advocate for social justice that you do not want to battle with—because you'll lose. This brilliant woman moves me with her radical feminism and commitment to making space for marginalized groups at the table. Also, her love for kitties is adorable and gives me warm fuzzies.
Tara Ranzy (right) is the woman I am honored to call my wife. She is my original #wcw. She is the reason the fantasy is real.
