I’m beyond elated to announce that G Philly is the extremely proud and honored recipient of a 2014 City and Regional Magazine Award in the category of Best Ancillary/General Interest.
The issue that garnered the award is our 2013 summer issue — you remember, the one with Gunnar Montana's chiseled body on the cover. I'm sure if you ask anyone on our little team, including our fabulous Editor in Chief Michael Callahan, this was the issue that really set us in motion for a fabulous final year of G Philly print publications. It featured our Summer Guide to Rehoboth, written by Alexander Kacala; one of our most popular stories of 2013, Brandon Baker's profile on Chester, Pa. porn star Joey Stefano; and the thought-provoking feature "What Do Straight Guys Really Think About Us?."
It's also worth mentioning that our mother publication, Philadelphia magazine, took home five other awards, including the coveted General Excellence prize. The others include:
- Best Column for Vicki Glembocki's "Suburbanista"
- Best Reporting for Steve Volk's "Gosnell's Babies"
- Best Feature Writing for Jason Fagone's "Patient No. 7"
- Best Leisure/Lifestyle for "Summer Guide"
So needless to say, we're feeling tons of pride today. Thank you so much for all your support. This obviously couldn't have been done without you. Here's to another great year!
