PA Gay Marriage Case Could Be Headed to the Supreme Court

Exciting news from Philly Mag news reporter Simon van Zuylen-Wood:

This morning, a federal judge in Harrisburg refused to dismiss a lawsuit challenging PA’s anti-gay-marriage law. The motions to dismiss had come from the Corbett administration. So, what does this mean?

The case has cleared its first big obstacle. Now that the case is going forward–and will probably get appealed either way the judge rules–it seems likely that this one’s headed for the Supreme Court after this goes to the appellate level. At some point in the next few years, at least. (Which is essentially what many gay rights advocates have been forecasting.) This of course was the infamous lawsuit filed by the ACLU, among others, that Attorney General Kathleen Kane refused to challenge.
