THIS WEEK AT GAYFEST: Filthy Truths, Adventures On OKCupid and More

A flock of one-night stands help close out the final week of Philly's LGBT theater festival.

PHIT PRESENTS GLBT IMPROV COMEDY
Long-form improv troupe Axis of Evil (Aubrie Williams, Shannon DeVido, Ralph Andracchio) and Philly Improv Theater’s house troupe Hot Dish are performing at this improv event where they create a show based on audience suggestions. It’s safe to say this’ll be the gayest thing PHIT has done in a while. Tue., Aug. 20, 7:30 p.m., $15, Playground at the Adrienne, 2030 Sansom St. 

SEBASTIAN: I AM BECAUSE I AM
Philly performance artist Sebastian takes on his inhibitions in this “theatrical concert” that incorporates original electronic music, dance, movement, and voice to explore the hurdles he must overcome to accomplish his dream of “becoming the world’s greatest performer.” Wed., Aug. 21, 7 p.m., $15, Plays & Players, 1714 Delancey Place.

FILTHY TRUTH
Get ready to be fired up during this performance, which seeks to “examine the … difficult issues surrounding gay rights and equality within the LGBT community” through written works, songs and movement. Wed., Aug. 21, 7 p.m., $15, Playground at the Adrienne.

BEN STOREY: MANIC-DEPRESSIVE PIXIE DREAMBOAT
Philly writer and performer Ben Storey describes his interactive/multimedia storytelling show as part gameshow part motivational seminar. In it, the struggling millennial wades through the topics like depression, gender identity and OKCupid in the attempt to unearth his inner pixie power.  Fri., Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m., $15, Playground at the Adrienne.

STAGED READINGS OF CLEAN SHEETS AND CEMETERY PLOT
Playwright FJ Hartland returns to GayFest! to showcase two of his newest short plays. In Clean Sheets, a famous author hilariously deals with the return of his ex-lover, and in Cemetery Plot a gay couple is visited by what appears to be one of the pair’s dead mother.Enjoy a cocktail in Tabu’s upstairs lounge while getting a peek at the altest from this up-and-coming LGBT playwright. Tue., Aug. 20, 5:30 p.m., $5, Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar, 200 S. 12th St.
