TONIGHT: See ‘The Out List’ Before It Debuts on HBO

Check out the much-anticipated documentary before it makes its Pride-month premiere.

(L-R) Lady Bunny, Neil Patrick Harris, Twiggy Pucci Garcon and Ellen DeGeneres are among those featured in upcoming HBO documentary 'The Out List.'

Philadelphia is one of a handful of U.S. cities being treated to an advanced screening of The Out List, the upcoming HBO documentary that examines what it’s like to be out in America.

To find the answer, award-winning photographer and director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders (The Black List, About Face: Supermodels Then and Now) interviews high-profile LGBTQers about coming out and how that has affected his or her career and personal life. He chats with big-namers, like comedians Ellen DeGeneres and Wanda Sykes and television personalities Neil Patrick Harris and Cynthia Nixon, but several movers and shakers who may have slipped under your radar make the cut, too. The fabulous Twiggy Pucci Garcon will talk about how being openly gay influenced his career as a ballroom dancer, and we’ll hear from transgender advocate Janet Mock and Lupe Valdez, the first female, Latina and lesbian sheriff of Dallas County, Texas.

Tonight’s screening will be hosted by local film critic Gary Kramer, who will lead a post-screening Q&A with filmmakers. The free showing starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Branch of the Free Library (1901 Vine St.)

If you can’t make it, The Out List debuts on HBO at 9:30 p.m. on June 27 — the 44th anniversary of the Stone Wall Riots — and will play at various times over the following weeks. Check out the entire airing schedule below.

HBO playdates: June 27 (5:20 a.m.), 29 (5:45 a.m.) and 30 (6 p.m.), and July 3 (1:30 p.m.), 5 (2:30 p.m.) and 8 (10 a.m.)

HBO2 playdates: June 28 (2 p.m.) and July 1 (9 a.m.), 24 (11 a.m.), 28 (11 a.m.) and 31 (1 p.m. and 10 p.m.)
