Why Jim McGreevey Should Be the Poster Child for Easter 2013

I nominate Jim McGreevy for Easter 2013’s poster child. The former governor of New Jersey, who resigned in 2004 after he admitted engaging in an “adult consensual affair with another man,” exemplifies redemption in a new documentary that turns the cameras on his new role as a spiritual advisor to women in prison.

Fall to Grace debuted last night on HBO and was an official selection at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The doc, directed by Nancy’s daughter Alexandra Pelosi, follows McGreevey’s path from disgraced politician to out-and-proud gay man to his job counseling 40 female prisoners in a program that, according to the Associated Press, has cut recidivism by half in Hudson County, N.J. If that’s not rolling the stone away, I don’t know what is.
