Parlez: Like Grindr But For Ladies Who Like Ladies

The app mimics the geo-location capabilities of Grindr, but goes a few steps further to make sure you get an A-plus match.

The lesbian dating scene in Philly is about to get a little spicier thanks to a new app that mimics the geo-location capabilities of Grindr, but goes a few steps further to help you find an A-plus match.

Parlez (pronounced par-lay), an Indiegogo-funded dating/hookup app for lesbian, bisexual and bi-curious women, was created by NYC entrepreneur and Lez Factor founder Milly Dubouchet. It works by pulling location information from other popular social-media apps like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare and pings you when other users are near. Once you’ve been notified, the app, or, according to the makers, you’re own personal wing-woman, will give you tips on how to make the proper approach. What does that mean exactly? In the video (above) Dubouchet explains that it doesn’t tell you what to say, but it will give you recommendations based on whether you want to make a playful, situational, pick-her-brain or direct approach. For instance, if you want to go the pick-her-brain route, it suggests asking something like, “Hi there. Can I get your quick opinion about something?”

Dubouchet, who, sorry ladies, is taken, explains that she created the app to get people away from their computers and to “inspire good old-fashioned face-to-face connections.” Besides helping you find potential dates, it will also send out information about events. For more info check the video above. The app is expected to launch in the fall.
