DVLF Announces 2013 HEROES

Six community movers and shakers will be honored at the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund's seventh-annual event.

In a few months, five local LGBTQers and one straight ally will be honored at the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund‘s (DVLF) annual HEROES event. The seven-year-old affair was created by DVLF to pay tribute to “youth, adults, non-profits, straight-allies & businesses who have bold ideas, act with selfless intention, are admired for their integrity, and are regarded as courageous in advancing the equality of the [region’s] LGBTQ community.”

Philly Pride matriarch Franny Price will receive the Individual HERO award, former U.S. Congressman and leading don’t ask, don’t tell opponent Patrick Murphy (pictured, right) will be honored as Straight Ally HERO; Chantel Wilson wins the award for Youth HERO, and John Cunningham will receive the Lifetime Legacy Award. On the business end, The Philadelphia Foundation scored the award for Nonprofit Organization HERO and the prize for Business/Corporation HERO goes to Rossi Wellness Center.

The awards will be divvied out at a brunch on May 19 in the Lafayette Ballroom of the new Hotel Monaco. The ceremony will be followed by an after party at Fire & Ice. For more information and tickets go to dvlf.org.
