Video: Did Cissy Houston Admit to Oprah That She Doesn’t Like Gay People?

In an interview, Whitney's mom says it "absolutely" would have bothered her if her daughter was a lesbian.

Cissy Houston may be the reigning Queen of Gospel, but this week on Oprah’s Next Chapter, she showed the world that she’s also the Queen of Grumpy Pants. She sat down with the former Queen of Daytime to promote her new book, Remembering Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss and the Night the Music Stopped (sigh), and at one point Oprah asked about Whitney’s rumored love affair with Robyn Crawford. After croaking on and on about how she didn’t like Crawford, Cissy flat out says that it “absolutely” would have bothered her if Whitney — Queen of The Night (and of many gays’ hearts) — was a lesbian.

Oprah: (a little shocked) It would have bothered you [if Whitney was gay]?

Cissy: (Doesn’t even bother speaking, just shakes her mean old head yes.)

Oprah: You would not have liked that.

Cissy: Not at all.

Oprah: Not at all. You wouldn’t have condoned it, or … ?

Cissy: No. (Continuing to shake her head like a mean old witch.)

The Houston matriarch goes on to talk about a whole host of other things she doesn’t like, including Bobby Brown, and that she wanted to kill Whitney this one time. Don’t believe me? Just watch the clip. She so mean!
