PGMC: Have a Ball

Drag queens, masked men and plenty of song and dance will dominate the Ethical Society this month (Oct. 13) when the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC) celebrates its “Fall Ball” (8 p.m.) on Rittenhouse Square. From its modest beginnings in 1981, PGMC has grown into one of the largest and most respected gay male choral groups in the country with more than 100 members and counting.

To celebrate, “Fall Ball” will not only feature a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres and live music, but also a special performance by the popular PGMC ensemble Brotherly Love, as well as a silent auction, raffle and masquerade dance ball.

Over the years, PGMC has performed with notables like Margaret Cho and Jason Bateman, and commissioned original works. They’ve also tackled serious issues impacting the LGBT community, like bullying and youth suicide – not to mention showed off their funny side.
