IndiGoGo Tickets Go on Sale

The second annual event will take place at Voyeur on Oct. 6

Last year, more than 600 people filled the Troc for a four-hour dance party following the Indigo Ball, a formal gala (it was at the Arts Ballroom last year and will be at the Franklin Institute this year). For the second year, plans for William Way’s IndiGoGo are underway, though the event is being relocated to Voyeur on Oct. 6.

Starting at noon today (Aug. 27), people can buy tickets to the after party (click here for tickets). Like last year, IndiGoGo immediately follows the Indigo Ball – ticketholders of the ball also receive free entry to the dance party.

“We were lucky to have The Trocadero donate their space last year,” says Paul Blore, the center’s executive assistant. “It was a terrific venue for us to debut IndiGoGo, and we were thrilled to see the diversity of the crowd. The great thing about bringing IndiGoGo to Voyeur is that we now having three floors to work with. We can vary the feel from room to room, appealing to the different tastes of the community.”

Nasty Sinatra is also spinning - she was just featured in Philadelphia magazine (courtesy of DJ Nasty Sinatra)

On the main dance floor, DJ Deejay (from The Big Gay Boat Party) presents Nasty Sinatra, the DJ who regularly works with Sgt. Sass. DJ Robert Drake (of WXPN, Sex Dwarf and Zombie Prom fame) will be spinning his signature mix of vintage rock throwback and New Wave downstairs in the Ruby Retro Lounge.

Upstairs, two more DJs hit the decks – DJ Kash and DJ Jovi Baby of Stimulus – when they spin in the Hip-Hop Hypercage.

Not only does a change in venue signal more space, but the event is extended well past 2 a.m. Doors open for IndiGoGo starting at 10 p.m. and will continue to 3:30 a.m., while go-go girls from Stimulus and go-go boys of the NSFW Party (named as the “Best Party Outside the Gayborhood” by G Philly this fall) dance throughout the venue.

In the month leading up to IndiGoGo, William Way will also be collaborating with each of the DJs, bringing Photobot 3000, an open-air photobooth, to parties around town. Guests at each of these parties will be able to use the booth to automatically generate stylish photos of themselves, which can be projected around the venue, and tagged and shared online.

Here’s where you’ll find Photobot:

  • Plunge, a Stimulus pool party (Sept. 6) at North Shore Beach Club
  • Sex Dwarf Pirate Party (Sept. 7) with DJ Robert Drake at Fluid Nightclub
  • BBG! vs. KKR! (Sept. 21) with DJ Deejay at Sisters

“This truly is a community-building event,” says William Way’s Development Director Michael Pomante. “From each of the DJs lending their time and talent, to the volunteers who are helping us promote, to Voyeur donating their amazing building, to each and every one of the guests who will be bringing their amazing energy to the party – all of it to support the community and to support the center. It’s spectacular.”

IndiGoGo Dance Party, October 6 (10 p.m.), Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 St. James Street.
