Santorum Sure Loves His Chick-Fil-A

He and Mike Huckabee voice their support for the anti-gay fast food chain

Are we surprised? Not a bit. But just when we thought we’d heard enough from former PA senator and one-time presidential hopeful Rick Santorum – he’s resurfaced. Why? Because this guy loves some Chick-fil-A.

He tweeted recently that he and his family were enjoying a meal at the fast food chain. The management of Chick-fil-A recently admitted that they are proud to stand against LGBT rights and same-sex marriage. They’ve also donated millions to anti-gay hate groups in recent years and are facing an enormous boycott. Even the Jim Henson Company pulled its support. And the mayor of Boston told the chain that they’re not welcomed in the city.

But because Santorum pretty much espouses the same homophobic rhetoric (heck, he launched a campaign from it – a failed one, we should add), he said he’d be joining Chick-fil-A on August 1 for an appreciation day launched by another failed GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee.

“I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld,” Huckabee shared on Facebook this week. He accuses the left of vicious hate speech against the company, which is ironic considering it’s Cathy and his cronies who seem to be doing their fair share of hateful smearing (not to mention donating to organizations that have been defined by their own anti-gay attacks).

If these two guys don’t make you want to give up chicken sandwiches, we don’t know what will.
