Artist Chat With Tony La Salle

His colorful floral paintings can be found all over town – on the walls of popular restaurants, shops and in private homes. This week (June 14) the William Way LGBT Community Center is hosting a special event with the artist Tony La Salle at DiBruno Bros. in Rittenhouse Square. It’s a meet and greet reception with tour that winds its way around town with La Salle as the guide.

The artist says his paintings are “extremely personal and reflective, the results coming from an unplanned internal journey,” which is why this journey will allow guests to get an intimate glimpse into the artistic process, and to ask the artist questions about the works they see along the way. He’s not just shown in Philly, though. His work has been exhibited in Boston, New York and San Francisco, as well as in Paris, Tokyo, Taipei and Lebanon. He’s also a professor at Delaware Valley College.

The tour is the latest in a series of live art events produced by the center and features an intimate reception catered by DiBruno in the upstairs cafe where several of La Salle’s works are permanently installed. The tour will end at the center, where several of La Salle’s works will be displayed and available for purchase.

A native of Pennsylvania, the artist now makes his home in Lambertville, N.J., where he owns an eponymous gallery featuring his colorful landscapes, florals and stylized portraits.
