QFest: New Film Added

Audiences enjoy a rare work-in-progress screening of "Morgan"

Leo Minaya and Jack Kesy as Morgan and Dean

Ever see a film before it’s officially released? QFest audiences will have that opportunity on July 18 (7 p.m.) when Morgan, a new film by writer-director Michael Akers, is screened at the Ritz East.

Not only will Akers (he also directed Phoenix and Gone, But Not Forgotten) be available to answer questions after the showing of this romantic comedy, but co-writer Sandon Berg will also be in Philly for the screening to discuss what it was like working with the film’s hunky leading men Leo Minaya and Jack Kesy.

The feature film was shot in New York City and tells the story about a young gay man named Morgan who is isolated after an accident leaves him disabled and wheelchair-bound – until he meets Dean. The movie delves into some hard-hitting issues while proving that sometimes love shows up exactly when you’re least expecting it.

Morgan, July 18, 7 p.m., Ritz East, 125 S. Second St., 267-765-9800.
