That’s why we created a guide to some of the best LGBT phone apps around, whether you’re looking for a date or a place to hang your hat. Each of these apps helps LGBT users track down the lavender low-down via iPhone, Android and other smart phones.

And while we know everyone’s obsessed with Grindr these days, we wanted to offer up some alternative apps for the virtual world of hooking up and beyond.

Gay Cities

Gay Cities is available on a need-to-know basis, as in, “Need to know where the closest gay bar is?” This app will tell you. It gives you the lowdown on gay and lesbian fun in more than 95 cities around the world – including Philly.

This MTV (by way of Logo) app boasts one of the largest LGBT social networking communities. It’s kind of like a Facebook for the gay world even if the name is sadly forgettable.

If you can’t get enough club music during daylight hours, you needn’t look any further that G.I.R.L. It streams the hottest dance remixes 24 hours a day. You can even search for new DJs and send feedback to radio stations using a “one click” option.
