Winter Fare at Bok Is Your Favorite Farmers Market, But Indoors

Stay warm and cozy while you shop indoors for local produce, meats, cheeses, and more.

Are you missing your neighborhood farmers’ market now that winter has arrived with a vengeance? While a few outdoor markets — like the ones at Rittenhouse Square, Headhouse, and Clark Park — happen all year round, it’s hard not to pine for the days when you could wear less than four layers while picking up your locally-grown groceries.

That’s why Primal Supply Meats owner-butcher Heather Thomason decided to bring things indoors for the cold season with Winter Fare. Last year, she hosted her foodie friends in a space in Kensington. Now, they’re taking over the Bok Building’s Workshop space with a bounty of local food on select Saturdays this winter, starting on January 13th.

At the Winter Fare, you can sip on piping hot pour-over from Rival Bros. while shopping for all the necessities: fruits and veggies from Greensgrow Farms and Riverwards Produce, loaves from Lost Bread Co., pastries from Bok’s own Machine Shop Boulangerie, and (of course), fresh-cut, pasture-raised meats from Primal Supply. There are locally-made cheeses, vinegars, and hard cider on offer, too — and you can get them all without risking frostbite.

Head to the Winter Fare at 850 Dudley Street on January 13th and 27th and February 10th and 24th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to load up on the region’s seasonal bounty. Check out the full list of vendors here.
