Hawthorne’s Biercafé’s annual IPA block party — which was rained out back in May and rescheduled — is back for real this time, with the festivities set to take over 11th Street between Fitzwater and Catherine on Saturday, July 1st.

And to reflect additions to the store’s selection after regulatory changes, they’ve expanded the hop-centric festival into a celebration of rosé, sparkling wine, and champagne, too.

The Eighth Annual IPA, Champagne, and Rosé Block Party will feature more than 75 varieties of beer — including nearly 60 IPAs — and the bubbly and rosé selections feature mostly small-batch bottles. Admission is free, and food and drink tickets are pay-as-you-go (cash only, of course).

In addition to booze, Hawthorne’s will be serving up street food treats like Italian sausage, St. Louis-style ribs, three-bean vegetarian burgers, beef cheek chili, tostones (twice-fried plantain slices), and lemon poppyseed churros.

Music will be provided by The John McNutt Trio, Las Palabras, DJ Christophonic and DJ Lexx. And little (and big) kids can have fun with activities like a giant bubble wand, chalk obstacle course, bean bag toss, hula hoops, face painting and a giant inflatable slide.

It all goes down on on July 1st from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. And if it rains this time, the fun will move to the next day, Sunday, July 2nd. Check the event page for updates to the beer, wine, and champagne lists as the party draws closer.
