BBQ burgers and bacon cheese fries, anyone?

Okay, yes. There are some new Shake Shack sandwiches. And fries. And shakes. And blah blah blah whatever.

But seriously? Look at that fried chicken sandwich up there and tell me that you don’t IMMEDIATELY have to eat that. It is a work of art. Of edible, deep-fried, BBQ-slathered art.

I’m gonna need a minute before we continue…

Okay, so now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here’s the actual news.

Beginning February 7 (and for a limited time only), all local Shake Shacks will be rolling out several new menu items. The solids are all BBQ-based–and it’s about time that Shake Shack did something with BBQ sauce, right? The liquids are…kinda seasonal-y? If you consider coffee, toffee and salted caramel to be winter flavors, I guess.

Here’s what we’re looking at:

The BBQ Shackmeister Burger: All-natural Angus burger, ale-marinated fried shallots, and the brand new Shake Shack BBQ sauce that the R&D people have been working on for “Quite some time,” according to culinary director Mark Rosati. It’s a hybrid Kansas City-meets-South Carolina style sauce which, I know, should be kind of impossible (or, at the very least, unwise from a strict sectarian perspective), but I’m willing to suspend my doubts for the time being because I really like Shake Shack burgers and they’ve never let me down before. Anyway, it’s meat and fried onions and BBQ sauce. Boom. Also, if you don’t get cheese on it, there’s just something wrong with you.

BBQ Bacon Cheese Fries: Everything you need to know is right there in the name. Smoked Niman Ranch bacon, Shack cheese sauce, crinkle-cut fries and BBQ. Boom.

And then, that BBQ Chick’n Shack sandwich: Deep-fried chicken breast. BBQ sauce. Pickles. Nothing else. And maybe it’s just that I haven’t had lunch and am super-hungry right now, but my god, that thing looks good. Like seriously, if you put eight of those in front of me right now and bet me that I couldn’t eat them all, I’d be halfway done before you finished that sentence and already wiping my mouth on your tie.

The new shakes are all being called “seasonal,” which likely means they’ll be around for a few weeks until spring. They are a Mint Cookies & Cream (with mint frozen custard, chocolate wafer cookie crumbles and whipped cream), Mud Pie (marshmallow frozen custard with fudge and coffee) and Salted Vanilla Toffee (salted vanilla frozen custard, plus toffee, natch).

All things considered, I’m less excited by all of those shakes combined than I am by the bacon cheese fries alone. And I’m still less excited by the bacon cheese fries than I am at the prospect of getting to eat one of those fried chicken sandwiches. But hey, maybe you’re someone who REALLY loves milkshakes and mint and toffee and whatever.

If so, today is a good day for you. You’re welcome.
