SausageFest Returns to South Philly

West Passyunk gets in on the food eating fun.

The South Philly SausageFest returns for a second year on Saturday, September 10th along West Passyunk Avenue between Broad and 15th Streets. The event, which runs from noon to 8 p.m., is a sausage-themed extravaganza that offers link swinging fun for everyone, including children and even vegetarians. SausageFest raises money to benefit neighborhood services.

More than ten area businesses will participate as well as eight local breweries. Look for sausage and sausage-inspired dishes to show off the growing food scene West of Broad, on Passyunk. Admission is free with food and drink being pay-as-you-go. Advance beer tickets are available on sale at the South Philly SausageFest website.

  • Taproom on 19th – Pork and Rice Sausage Sandwich with Pickled Red Cabbage
  • Vegan Commissary – Smoked Carrot Dog (Marinated, roasted and cold-smoked whole carrot on a hotdog bun with zucchini relish, grainy mustard and spicy gochujang ketchup available as toppings) and Commissary Sliders (Handmade Commissary Burger in two styles, bibb lettuce cup with kimchi mayo/green goddess dressing and cucumber pickle on a bun)

Tap lists will be released the week before the event. Beer tickets are 3 for $12, 10 for $35and 18 for $54. SausageFest shirts are also available online for only $15 each.

The street festival also includes arts and crafts as well as children’s activities. South Philly SausageFest will feature the following children’s activities from 12:00pm to 4:00pm:

Proceeds from the event will benefit and fund Newbold CDC’s Street Cleaning Program in partnership with Horizon House, Inc., who provides a wide range of services for adults with developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol addictions, and/or homelessness. Newbold CDC employs its cleaning crew through Horizon House’s workforce program and puts these individuals to work in cleaning up the commercial corridors along West Passyunk and Snyder Avenues from South Broad to 19th Streets.
