“Amadaversary” Celebrates 10 Years Of Amada In Philly

The Garces Group and Garces Foundation celebrate Amada's 10th anniversary with a week full of events.

10 years is a long time. In the restaurant world (where we celebrate a 1-year anniversary like its remarkable and 5 like its unheard of), it’s damn near forever.

So it’s definitely worth mentioning that this month, The Garces Group is presenting “Amadaversary” as three different events celebrating Amada’s 10th Anniversary.

Kicking off the festivities from Oct. 11-Oct. 16, Garces Trading Company, Olde Bar, Distrito, Tinto, and Amada will offer a $39 tasting menu served with a complimentary glass of sangria or punch in addition to their a la carte menu. Also, $4 from each tasting menu will go to the Garces Foundation, a non-profit organization that ensures Philadelphia’s underserved immigrant-based community has access to sufficient health and educational services.

Other participating restaurants for this event include, JG Domestic, Village Whiskey and Buena Onda.

On Sunday, Oct. 18, from noon-6pm, the “Amadaversary Paella Festival” will be held at 2nd Street between Market and Chestnut Streets. A few of the competing Paella dishes include Amada’s lamb paella, The Olde Bar’s crab and bellota paella, Volver’s Asian paella… You get the idea. Tickets are $10 and will include tastings from each restaurant and two drink tickets for beer, sangria, or the Village Whiskey’s hot toddy station.

The festival will include a Paella Cook-Off, three different bars, live music, raffles and prizes, face-painting and children’s activities, plus a meet-and-greet with Iron Chef Jose Garces.

Then, on Sunday night, Oct. 18, from 8pm-11pm, chef Garces will host an exclusive reception featuring 11 alumni chefs and beverage professionals with experiences working within the Garces family. With only 50 tickets available for this exclusive event, Garces and the alums will meet and mingle with guests throughout the night.

Amada alumni chefs such as, Joey Baldino, Kevin Sbraga, Adam Zensinger and a few others will prepare dishes inspired by their time at Amada. The bar will feature cocktails created by Katie Loeb, Keith Raimondi and Paul Rodriguez.

Throughout the week guests have the chance to win gifts and giveaways from Garces like complimentary dinners, wine pairings, tequila classes, $100 gift certificates and much more.

Tickets for all events can be purchased through the Garces Group wesbite.
