Chef Jennifer Carroll Lands in D.C.

For those who had Jennifer Carroll opening a restaurant in D.C. with Mike Isabella, head to the betting window and collect your winnings. Today, Carroll and Isabella announce a partnership to open Requin, a French and Mediterranean concept that will open in D.C.’s Southwest waterfront.

Requin will first open as a pop-up in Merrifield, Virginia this fall. The pop-up will run through the end of the year before yielding to another Isabella concept, Kapnos Kouzina. The 4,000 square foot, permanent waterfront location for Requin won’t be ready till mid-2017. The restaurant will be the culinary anchor for D.C.’s ambitious Wharf project.

As for the pop-up, it will be open for dinner only, Tuesday through Saturday, and feature a seafood heavy menu grilled or a la plancha whole fish, wood-fired shellfish and seafood roasts, dry aged, bone-in ribeye and a cheese cart.

Carroll, a Philly native and alum of Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin in New York and 10 Arts in Philadelphia reached fame during her time on Top Chef, where she became friends with Isabella. After attempts to open restaurants in Philadelphia and New York fell through, Carroll hopefully has a partnership that will come to fruition, though still not for a couple of years.

If you’ve missed Carroll’s cooking, keep an eye on RequinDC.com for further details on the pop-up.
