Updates From Brick & Mortar

Happy hour, staff meal, a clam bake and more.

Brick & Mortar is going all-in on being your new, favorite neighborhood bar. Over the past two days, they’ve announced multiple tweaks and additions to their concept (most of them starting, like, yesterday), so we’ve got a run-down of all the new stuff right here.

1) For starters, they’ve got a new happy hour program. It launched yesterday (see, I meant that literally) and is being pitched as the greatest happy hour in the universe. Or at least in the Loft District. It wasn’t clear.

Anyway, chef Brian Ricci is offering skewers (tandoor pork loin, grilled masala chicken thighs and hoisin hanger steak with lime) and “chef’s crostini (which I assume means fancy toasts) at $3 per. And all cheese, meat and vegetable boards for just $7. Additionally, Christina Rando is offering some deals from behind the bar. All house cocktails are $5. Draught beers are $4. Tap wines are $6. And they’ve got a pretty good list, too, so this is a deal.

Happy hour runs Monday to Friday, from 4pm-6pm.

2) You like soccer? Of course you do. BAM is now doing Premier League Saturdays, with full English breakfasts, breakfast sandwiches, oysters, $4 Carlsberg bottles and $4 draughts. This starts on Saturday, August 15 at 7:45am.

3) Also, Sunday Staff Meal is back. It’s returning on Sunday, August 16 with a $25 flat cost which will get you in, get you a seat, get you a cocktail from the bar and a family-style meal of pineapple pickle salsa with fresh tortilla, Cuban pork belly with corn and torpedo onions, plus vanilla-cardamom churros with lemongrass chile jam. Dinner starts at 6:30.

4) But wait, there’s more… The BAM crew are also looking at adding Fourth Spit–a weekly nose-to-tail rotisserie event where they’ll cook a whole animal then serve it–and an end-of-summer clam bake tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 27.

More details as they come in. Stay tuned.
