A Perfect Storm in Center City

Center City will be a packed whirlwind of activity tonight as Center City Sips collides with Restaurant Week to form some sort of perfect storm, that frankly, we’re not sure we want to be a part of. If that seems like too much for you too, we here at Foobooz have a suggestion, Fishtown.

Start your night at Fette Sau for happy hour where beers are half-priced and the burnt end sandwiches are $4.

From there, head down Frankford Avenue to Kensington Quarters and the meat appetizers that are made for sharing. The lomo and pork head cheese are particular standouts. If you aren’t going 100% meat, we’d recommend a pasta to break things up.

Then it’s off to La Colombe for a draft latte and a Different Drum Rum drink. The draft latte is unbelievably good. We really haven’t gotten over how good the draft latte is. Seriously. As for your cocktail, go with a coffee rum take on a White Russian or simply a glass of the rum with a twist of orange. And if you’re looking for a sweet ending to the evening, La Colombe now serves ice cream sandwiches.

This little crawl is based on my own Fishtown adventure last Friday. That trip also had stops at Memphis Taproom, Yards Brewing and Rowhouse Spirits. But since this is a Wednesday night, don’t try to be a hero and save some things for next week. Because Sips and Restaurant Week are continuing.
