Not One, Not Three, But Five Ways To Celebrate Belgian Independence

The folks at Duvel Moortgat Brewing and Brewery Ommegang want you to celebrate Belgian Independence Day.

In honor of the holiday (which actually comes on July 21st), they’re hosting an outdoor party at the South Street PHS Beer Garden on Sunday July 19th, plus several beer and cheese tours throughout the weekend.

This Belgian beer bash runs from 12 noon to 10pm and features beer, live music and games. Duvel and Ommegang brewing both have beers on draught including Hennepin, Rare Vos, Gnomegang, La Chouffe, Liefmans Fruitesse, Fleur de Houblon and Duvel Single to name a few. Ommegang also brewed a special, limited release beer for the occasion. Ommegang Belgian Independence Day is a Belgian-style tripel, dry-hopped with Mandarina Bavaria hops.

Blackbird Society Orchestra is playing from 12:30pm-4:30pm and the Bearded Ladies Cabaret comes on at 6pm. Lawn games such as Giant Jenga and Corn Hole will be available throughout the day. Also look out for prizes and giveaways.

But that’s not all. Check out these beer and cheese tours scheduled around the main event:

Duvel partners with Di Bruno Bros to bring us gourmet cheeses and Belgian beers. Di Bruno Bros will choose three pairings to complement the Duvel Golden Ale, Ommegang Belgian Independence Day and Duvel Tripel Hop. Tours are held throughout the weekend at various locations across the city.
