Destroy Your Liver For The Kidney Foundation

It's for the kidneys, guys.

It’s for the kidneys, guys.

On Thursday, April 23, Chef Nick Farina (the owner of Verdad, Union Taco and the new Northern Liberties pop-up restaurant EAT) will host a 5 course dinner and auction at EAT to benefit the Kidney Foundation. The event is called “Margaritas & Carnitas,” and will cost $50 per person (including tax and gratuity).

The meal will begin with an oyster and sangrita shooter. That’s not a misspelling of sangria, it’s actually a shot of various fruit juices and hot sauce that’s served as a chaser for straight tequila. I usually find that the best chaser for tequila is regret, but to each her own…

The rest of the menu includes a grilled halloumi salad, achiote red snapper with local greens, grilled rib eye salsa verde with kidney beans (pun intended? I’m not sure) and pickled wild ramps, and Patrón ice cream for dessert.

Each course will be paired with straight tequila (either Blanco, Reposado or Añejo) or one of two seasonal spring margaritas.

To RSVP call 215-923-8611.
