Justin Bogle Named Corporate Executive Chef For Garces Group

So for those of you who’ve been wondering whatever happened to the guy who used to run the kitchen at Avance, now you know. The weird thing? This is a sort of homecoming for Justin Bogle, because prior to his running off to New York City to earn his Michelin stars while cooking at Gilt, he got started as a cook under Jose Garces at Alma de Cuba.

Eater got the first word on this earlier today, and are reporting that, in addition to his role as corporate chef, Bogle will be opening chef de cuisine at Garces’s upcoming Amada location in New York City–the restaurant he’s putting into the big new development called Brookfield Place on Vesey Street in Lower Manhattan.

It should be noted that while Garces is definitely in need of a guy like Bogle to keep watch over his various projects (mostly because he seems to be announcing new ones faster than we can write about them), it does seem like kind of an odd move to have your newly-minted corporate chef working out of a town where you only have one restaurant. But who knows. Maybe the Amada gig will just be a short-term posting in order to get the crew and the menu in order before Bogle gets brought back to oversee operations here.

Which would be nice, because god knows someone needs to do something about Rosa Blanca, and fast.
