Rockhill Is Now Open in Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill has a slick new pizzeria and sandwich shop, open now in the former home of the venerable Big John’s on Route 70.

Rockhill is Andrew Welder‘s ode to the Philadelphia sandwich shop, the Philadelphia pizzeria, the Philadelphia neighborhood joint, all rolled up in one space. Since Big John’s original building got knocked down, Welder built a kind of airy, modern diner with a snaking counter and open ceiling. He’s doing pizzas and stromboli in a dozen different varieties, using Jersey tomatoes, pork roll and meats from FLX Wienery. His cheesesteak rolls come from Conshy Bakery, his mushrooms from Kennett Square. The Brawler is a cheesesteak with cheddar beer sauce. His Montreal cheesesteak is topped with crinkle-cut fries and gravy–which just sounds awesome.

Rockhill has a whole menu of snacks (like soft pretzels or fries) that you can top like a cheesesteak, a whole other menu of hoagies, and then burgers, too. The “Late Night In Jersey” comes topped with pork roll, a sunny side up egg, bacon mayo, and I kind of want one right now. The burger pictured above? That’s the Orchard Park, and it looks pretty good, too.

The full menu is available here, in clickable format. And Rockhill is up and running right now at 1800 Route 70 East in Cherry Hill.
