Avance Reopening Tomorrow Night

From the mezzanine.

So I know we weren’t the only cynical bastards in town who were at least a teensy bit surprised to hear that Avance (which has suffered its share of troubles lately) was actually reopening after their summer break.

But it’s true. Starting tomorrow night, September 9, the fires will be lit and the doors will be open, and chef Justin Bogle is coming back with a new “Late Summer menu” which eschews all this early pumpkin adopting nonsense that’s had us so pissed off lately and, instead, makes use of the supplies that are at their best right now.

Which means heirloom tomatoes with burrata, foie gras with preserved blueberry, and wild striped bass with corn, pickled green tomato and mussel jus, just to name a few. There are still a few good weeks of the summer season left, and Bogle isn’t ready to let go just yet.

The menu isn’t the only change. Avance will be opening with a new GM–Anthony Cozzi, who’s coming in from Fuze Restaurant in Avalon. And according to the newsletter that Avance just sent out to its fans, the restaurant is also looking at starting up a lunch service which should debut “in months to come.”

So a solid plan for the present and something to look forward to in the future? Honestly, that’s the best news we’ve heard out of Avance in quite some time.
