Win Tickets to Cooking Up Couture

Cooking Up Couture_Postcard_LoRes

On Friday, August 22nd, the first ever Cooking Up Couture event is happening in Philadelphia. The event food and fashion showcase is hosted by Jen Groover and will featured hand-crafted cocktails as well as bites from some of Philadelphia’s hottest chefs, including Top Chef winner Nick Elmi (Laurel), Chopped champion Georgeann Leaming (SUPPA) and Brad Spence (Amis). Proceeds will benefit Philabundance. The event is being hosted at Front & Palmer, 1750 N Front Street and runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now for $75 per person but we’re lucky enough to be giving away a pair to a lucky Foobooz reader.

Since Cooking Up Couture is a food and fashion show, we're going to give away a pair of tickets to the Foobooz reader who submits the best photo of their own food or beverage-inspired apparel, accessory or tattoo. Submissions can be made in the comments section of this post.

The contest runs to 4:30 p.m. on August 11th, so get posting.

I love to sing, perform and dance while preparing a feast! Thx Foobooz for the opportunity #everythingcrossed #fun #onceinalifetime :)

  • Frank the Tank

Word to the wise for the lucky winner: make sure you get the tickets up front, in your hand, BEFORE the event. Don’t let them put your name on a list or something like that. (I speak from not-great experience.)

All I end up wearing when I cook is whatever I’m cooking. Not the best accessory. :-)

I am entering my tattoo, which is known as Lewin’s Equation. I learned about this while studying for my master’s in Public Health. Our diets can significantly affect just about all aspects of our life, and it is very meaningful that skyrocketing obesity rates have been countered by a renewed focus on fresh and local foods. The equation is b = f (p, e), or Behavior is a function of Person and Environment. Changing our environment (where our food comes from) and changing our habits (what we eat) makes for healthier behavior. I could argue that food is life but I’ve already crossed the border into some serious cheesiness already. Let’s hear it for Philly’s fantastic locavore scene!

The official rules thingy above says to give my name and email address. Anne Lynn ( Here’s hoping!

  • Justin S

Classic black and white ensemble: black chef’s coat, white service apron, checkered work pants. Perfect for making bee cupcakes on a warm summer day.

  • JC

Tattoo of chopsticks picking up food.

My craft skills, put to good use for Halloween. Hand-painted sriracha costume + Gaga’s meat dress & shrimp nigiri. Mmmm…
