By chance, we were the first two people in through the door for their very first happy hour. I didn’t even know about it until a server gave us the menu. They did get fairly crowded, which I gather was a positive change.

Great cocktails, delicious $1 apps, and some amazing WILD Virginia oysters for $2 each (although the eyedropper of lemon juice was just a little bit pretentious, lol Craig LaBan).

However, the service, although always friendly and knowledgeable, had to be flagged down almost every time we wanted to order. And we weren’t doing just a couple of after-work cocktails and dashing. We were there for 3 1/2 hours, and we ordered the entire happy hour menu as well as a smattering of the regular bar menu, including caviar and a bottle of sparkling wine.

You would think that you’d at least stop by a table like that more often to see if we wanted anything, or even just to fill our empty champagne glasses (from our bottle on ice across the room, so we couldn’t do that ourselves if we wanted).

I would go back, particularly for those oysters and the cocktails. But if I spend almost $350 including tip (it was my birthday!), I expect much better service. They did comp a plate of their delicious petit fours.
