Beer Week Counter-Programming


Has Philly Beer Week already blown out your taste buds? Too many IPAs? Then maybe some negronis or sherry are what the palate doctor ordered. It’s Negroni Week and more than thirty bars and restaurants are participating. Everyone from Avance to Zahav are participating with a portion of proceeds going to the charity of the bar’s choice.

Over at Jamonera, sherry is your beer alternative. The Spanish restaurant is hosting Sherry Week through June 6th with sherry cocktails and snacks from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Each night, a sherry cocktail and snack is available for $15.

Monday – Moscatel

cocktail: bluecoat, cesar florido, agnostura, orange
snack: cana de cabra, housemade plum jam, grilled bread

Tuesday – Fino

cocktail: perucchi sweet vermouth, lustau puerto fino sherry, orange, bitters
snack: tortilla espanola, roasted peppers, grilled asparagus, truffle aioli

Wednesday – Manzanilla

cocktail: la cigarerra manzanilla, tangueray, st germaine elderflower liqeuer, lemon
snack: deviled eggs with blistered shishito peppers

Thursday – Amontillado

cocktail: sherry cobbler – Bodega Dios Baco amontillado sherry, strawberry-rhubarb jam, sugar, orange
snack: spanish “pb n’ j” – grilled baguette, marcona almond butter, housemade strawberry jam

Friday – OLOROSO

cocktail: oloroso negroni – lustau east india oloroso, perruchi red vermouth, campari
snack: manchego stuffed meatballs, serrano ham, sherry-tomato sauce, baguette
