The Philadelphia Zoo is rolling out some upgraded food options for this season. And in addition to adding humanely-raised meats, the remodeling of the Impala Cafe and adding new kid’s meals and signature sundaes to some of the other food-service areas, there’s one other piece of big news:

Jose Garces will now be serving at the Zoo.

The Distrito Taco Truck will be on-hand every weekend (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) throughout the entire summer season. Garces’s taco truck will be offering all the usual stuff (tacos, nachos, burritos and churros), plus bottles of water and some new stuff for the kids.

The Zoo is also opening up a whole new restaurant, called the 34th Street Market, which will be overseen by Rich Freedman, Aramark’s executive chef at the Zoo. The menu will be primarily salads and sandwiches, and will source local, seasonal ingredients for specials all throughout the summer.
