Morgan’s Pier Will Open May 1st

Morgan’s Pier will return for its third season on Thursday, May 1st. As we told you previously, David Gilberg will be the “executive chef in residence.” Gilberg was the chef and owner of the critically acclaimed, and sorely missed, Koo Zee Doo.

Gilberg’s menu will encompass “things we like to cook and eat outside; whether in the context of a backyard barbeque, a stroll along a boardwalk, or a simple picnic on the waterfront.” Look for lobster rolls, Piri Piri chicken, crab cakes and vegetable kababs. Also, look for salads, elotes and a day-boat fish entree steamed in corn husks.

Also on the agenda for the season, Sunday brunch. Gilberg and his wife, pastry chef Carla Goncalves will team up for a weekly brunch of made-from-scratch biscuits that will be serve as the base of dishes with eggs, smoky gravy and preserves.

Periodically, Gilberg will turn Morgan’s Pier into a backyard barbecue as he will prepare dinner on open-air charcoal grills. Also look for special events with appearances by guest chefs and themed menus.

The drink side of Morgan’s Pier will look familiar with fourteen all-American craft beers being available on draft, plus several canned beer selections, summer cocktails and the Pier’s trademark Wateremelon Ricky.

The entertainment will continue with Sean Agnew’s R5 Productions and David Pianka’s Making Time. Look for internationally-known DJs and free concerts throughout the summer.
